Virginia Career Works – Piedmont Region (VCWP) is proud to join partners across the Commonwealth in celebrating Workforce Development Month this September.

Governor Abigail D. Spanberger has officially proclaimed September 2026 as Workforce Development Month in Virginia, recognizing the important role workforce development plays in connecting individuals to opportunity, supporting employers, and strengthening communities. The proclamation highlights the value of career guidance, training, apprenticeships, upskilling, and the partnerships that help Virginians build meaningful careers.

Workforce development is about more than finding a job. It is about helping people gain skills, explore career pathways, access training, and connect with opportunities that support long-term economic mobility. It is also about helping employers build the talent pipelines they need to grow and succeed.

Here in the Piedmont Region, VCWP works alongside employers, educators, training providers, economic development organizations, community-based organizations, and local governments to strengthen our regional workforce ecosystem. Together, these partnerships help connect job seekers to careers, businesses to talent, and communities to opportunity.
