UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
Have you been laid off or been told that you will be laid off in the future?
Are you unemployed and looking for work?
Need help finding a job?
We know that unemployment can be a hard time and there are many questions that you may have about filing and qualifying for benefits. The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is available to answer those questions and provide you access to information about job opportunities and ways to get you back to work. The VEC has many of its resources available on their website: http://www.vec.virginia.gov.
You will be able to:
- File a new claim, partial claim or weekly claim for unemployment benefits;
- Find instructions on how to access the Virginia Workforce Connection to find active employment opportunities in your community;
- Search local employers and find information regarding their employment statistics and trends; and
- Review labor market information that provides information on current and future market trends, wage information, and employment opportunities.
The regional VEC office is located at the Virginia Career Works – Charlottesville Center.
